It started in a family kitchen, the way all great things do. Our grandmother would wake before sunrise to prepare the sofrito, the aromatic base that defines Puerto Rican cooking, grinding fresh herbs and peppers by hand, filling the house with an aroma that still brings the whole family to tears.
When we came to Madison, we brought those recipes with us. Not adaptations, not approximations, the real thing. The same sofrito. The same caldero. The same love.
